Patch notes

TRAINING ARC 0.12.0

Pre-Alpha

A lot has changed since the last notes (0.8.1). The highlights:

New

  • Zones 1–5 teach the whole moveset. Each new move shows up with a foe that needs it, and the first time, the fight pauses on a short hands-on lesson you try until you get it right. The Chi Counter, the B counter and the "!" dodges all get one.
  • Bosses fight in three acts. At 60% and 30% HP the boss stops, says a line, and the arena changes, with new moves and one big telegraphed attack per act.
  • Named enemy waves in zones 1–5: AMBUSH, THE CHARGE, BRUTE SQUAD, SNIPER NEST, golden ELITE grunts, a calm BREATHER, and a signature wave per zone. Each one opens with a banner.
  • Every idle system lives on the islet now: Dojo Gates, the Expedition Jetty, Bitsy's Drill Rigs, the Relic Case, the Crew Job Board and the Drying Line.
  • Ten islet minigames with short boosts, from Pest Patrol in the garden to Sorting Rush at the Mailbox.
  • While You Were Away: come back after a while and a report card counts up everything that happened.
  • The TODAY board: the few best things to do right now, one button to go do them.
  • A proper Settings page: hit-stop, screen shake and flash, Large text, colour-blind shapes, button remapping, and button prompts that match your controller (Xbox, PlayStation or Switch).

Fighters

  • Solari: the flame forms are our own now (his hair and fists burn, ember to prism), and the super is GOLDEN HOUR.
  • Moonveil is a late-night stagehand whose forms are spotlights. He walks calmly now, no more chicken walk.
  • Forecaster forms are SEVERE WEATHER, with the storm building around him. Gus the cameraman tags along.
  • The Funsuit is STOMPOSAURUS, a rubber-suit monster from a kids' show.
  • Vex runs visibly hot, and the Mossborn grows bigger with every form before the Giant.
  • Better animation across the board: wind-ups, follow-throughs, and walks that don't slide.

The islet

  • Wider, with the stations in groups, and a lot of it redrawn: the Bean Garden, the Mailbox (a weathered P.O. box wall), the Studio Head's desk, the fire pit, the job board and more. Most of it lights up at night.
  • Sorting Rush and the Bean Garden were reworked to be clearer, and every minigame has a new grade stamp.
  • A smaller, cleaner status panel in the top left, and smaller name cards at each building.

Changed

  • The ninja world is Cranefold Valley now, an origami ninja drama, and zeni is Rin.
  • Power Levels read smaller (1,000,000 shows as 10,000). Nothing about the balance changed.
  • Dying restarts the zone you're in instead of sending you back one.
  • The whole game is quieter. Your volume settings still work on top.

Fixed

  • Boss and mentor loot no longer turns up a fight late.
  • The fullscreen toggle shows the right state.
  • No more stutter when a big hit lands on a crowd.

Thanks for sticking around 🙂
